Okay, Jesse and I have now received the results from our MRI date together.
Drum roll please..........Brooke's meniscus.........has no tears! Yes, it's true! No surgery needed! The doctor met with me and said he was unable to see any tears on my MRI, which is great news. He thinks I hyperextended my knee while skiing and it has taken a while to get back to normal (swelling, pain, etc.) He gave me a Cortisone shot in my patella (ouch) and my knee feels much better, not perfect, but better. I can't believe how much the shot helped. If I knew it could feel this good, I would have gotten it a long time ago!
On the other hand, Jessse has severely torn his ACL and will need reconstructive surgery. Right now, he is doing mild physical therapy to get full range of motion back in his knee, before he goes under the knife. The doctor believes this will help with both his surgery and recovery time.
We decide to get Jesse's surgery over with and he goes in Friday, April 3rd. Recovery time will be long, but a year from now he should be 100% or close to that. He won't be skiing, playing basketball, football, waterskiing, or any other sports anytime soon. The doc says he can golf and hike, so long as he wears a knee brace. Fun for us! Wish us luck! Now I get 3 boys to take care of at home. Woo-hoo!
