March 21st marked the official release of Twilight on dvd, and naturally no pop-culture phenomenon would be complete with an official release party. I found out about the parties on Stephenie Meyer's official website and knew I had to catch some of the Twi-action for myself.
The best part, was that some of the Twilight cast were going to make surprise appearances in various cities. The exact locations were not revealed, but they did give you a list of stores doing parties and you could try your luck. I hit my first two parties and was on my way home when Jesse said he saw Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre) on the news! Yes, it was Victoria the nomadic, feral, red-headed vampire who's out to settle a score with Bella. She was at the Riverton Walmart store signing autographs! So, like any devoted Twi-hard, I made a U-turn and drove my car, in an Edward-like fashion, to catch a peek of her.
Of course, there were thousands of people (who knew you could fit so many vampire-obsessed bodies in a Walmart) and the line wrapped around the entire store! Did I wait in the line? Of course I didn't. However, I did get a chance to see her. She is even more beautiful in person! She looked like a super-model quality with a diamond smile. I feel so star-struck right now, it's idiotic and all-consuming!
It was also pretty hilarious to see WHO came to these events too. I saw a little bit of everything: Emo kids texting on their cell phones, moms holding yawning babies, little girls waltzing around in vampire costumes, high school chicks sporting prom dresses, Sakters, Preppies, Goths, you name it. I even saw two people dressed up like Victoria and James - spitting image, probably trying to get on the news. It was too funny! Now that's a good novel, when it pulls a little bit of everything out of the woodwork.
I'm already planning on going to the next red carpet event, which will probably be the premier of New Moon on November 20, 2009 at midnight. (Move over Harry Potter fans, this one's bigger and better!!) I'd love to get a huge group of Twi-hards to come with me to the premier, so keep your calendars open ladies! And for now, may the Twi be with you!
